Big Skincare Brands Are Lying To You

Blog #004

So let’s talk about the basics here…you probably look at the front of a skincare bottle, judge the color and design, read bold printed words like ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ and decide to buy it. All without reading the back of the label, ya know, the part that actually tells you what you’re really buying. THE HORROR!!!

I’m here to tell you that this is the absolute worst thing you can do when buying skincare products.

Let us break it down for you

Usually the FDA has a responsibility to keep certain chemicals in skincare products off the market. But what happens when there’s hundreds of thousands of products that are out there and the FDA can’t get to all of them? Things start to fall through the cracks, that’s what. It is literally impossible for the FDA reps to run a test on each and every product that is available to us. As much as we want to rely on them to help us with this, it’s just physically impossible. This is why you have to take it upon yourself to do the work.

But wait there’s more…

Most of the time big skincare brands don’t even disclose the ingredients they use because they’re too controversial and harmful. NO I AM NOT KIDDING. Seriously though, have you ever noticed sometimes you use a product that’s claimed it was super “healthy” and “beneficial” for your skin and it actually turned out to do way more harm than good? Sure it could have been because your skin was reacting to it. But chances are that it might also be because there’s certain ingredients in that product that irritate your skin after long usage, making you think you need more of that product. Think about that for a second and try to wrap your head around it.

Big skincare companies are literally putting chemicals in their products that make your skin worse so you end up buying more, thinking that it will make it better. All because the label says it’s ‘good’ for your skin. G’BYE.

What you should do

This is exactly why we recommend that you always stick to completely natural products with very minimal ingredients that you recognize and can pronounce. Even with the claimed natural ingredients that are in the product, make sure that you understand what they are and where they come from. For example, in our Rich Radiance shimmering body oil, one of our ingredients is “Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis”, if you do your research (or continue reading the label), it is actually sweet almond oil.

It’s important to know what you are actually putting on your body because it will then become what goes IN your body as well. Also, always do your research on the brand and don’t for a second hesitate to contact them and ask exactly where they get their ingredients and products from.

All of this might sound extreme but when you really think about it, we literally only have ONE skin for the rest of our lives. We are in this for the long run and you have to rely on it to take care of you for a lot of years to come. If you are the type of person that thinks “I’m young, I don’t have to start taking care of my skin yet”, then you are COMPLETELY WRONG. If you do not start now, as in literally today, you will lose years off your skins health. Do yourself a huge favor and take care fo your body, especially the skin (Fun Fact: It’s your largest organ).
